Apple Hardware Diagnostics / Test Check Hardware
Another part of the useful Mac features is the built-in hardware diagnostics. I would also recommend this test to everyone before selling or after buying a used MacBook or any Apple device in general. The function is integrated in all MacBook / Air / Pro, Mac Mini, Mac Pro and iMacs from mid-2013. The hardware of the devices is examined here. If there is an error, it will mostly be found here. All components such as CPU, graphics, SSD, audio, camera, battery and sensors are checked. Please also connect the charger when checking, otherwise an error will be displayed (PPP007),
which only refers to the missing charger. Important: This description refers to devices built in mid-2013 or later.
In order to start the integrated hardware diagnosis, the D key must be pressed immediately after switching on and held until the diagnosis starts. If there is also an Internet connection at the same time, the service status can also be queried.
The following table also lists the error codes and what they mean:

PPT006 | The battery needs to be repaired. The battery is not working properly, although you may not notice any change in its behavior or charge capacity. You can continue to use the battery before having it checked. This will not damage your computer. |
PPT007 | The battery needs to be replaced. The battery is working properly, but has significantly less charge capacity than when it was new. You can continue to use the battery before replacing it. This will not damage your computer. |
