If you want to pass on or sell your Apple iMac, you should take a few important steps beforehand. Especially if the Apple computer was previously used networked with iCloud and other devices such as iPhone and iPad, you first have to log out of the respective services in order to reset the Mac to the factory settings.

In addition, all personal data and files, photos, videos, music collections, documents and the like should of course be removed from the hard drive. The quickest way to do this is to create a backup, log out of the most important services and then reinstall macOS.

The steps above can be used to reset an Apple computer so that you can then give it away or sell it. But even if it has been selected as a trade-in when purchasing a new Mac, it should be prepared accordingly before sending it in.

With new Mac, MacBook, iMac and Mac mini versions, new hardware has been used over the years.
